Application:

1. Welding of Battery Explosion-Proof Valve

The explosion-proof valve is a thin-walled valve structure on the battery sealing plate. It is designed to rupture when the internal pressure exceeds a predetermined threshold, thereby preventing the battery from bursting. This component features a sophisticated design and demands extremely precise laser welding technology. Continuous laser welding ensures high-speed, high-quality welds with exceptional stability, efficiency, and yield.

2. Welding of Battery Tabs

Battery tabs are typically made of three materials: aluminum for the positive electrode, and nickel or copper-nickel composite for the negative electrode. During the manufacturing of power batteries, it is essential to weld the tabs to the poles securely. In secondary batteries, the tab must also be welded to an aluminum safety valve. 

3. Spot Welding of Battery Electrode Strips

Common materials for battery electrode strips include pure aluminum, nickel, aluminum-nickel composite, and occasionally copper. Pulse welding machines are generally used for these applications. Thanks to excellent beam quality and a small welding spot, QCW quasi-continuous lasers are particularly suitable for welding highly reflective materials such as aluminum and copper strips, as well as narrow-width strips (under 1.5 mm).

4. Seal Welding of Power Battery Case and Cover

Power battery cases are typically made of aluminum alloy or stainless steel, with 3003 aluminum alloy being the most common. Stainless steel (especially 304) offers excellent laser weldability, allowing for high-quality welds with both pulsed and continuous lasers, resulting in superior appearance and mechanical performance.

5. Welding of Power Battery Modules and Packs

Series and parallel connections between power batteries are usually achieved by welding connecting pieces to individual cells. The positive and negative electrodes are made of different materials, primarily copper and aluminum. Ultrasonic welding is typically used for copper-to-copper or aluminum-to-aluminum joints, while laser welding is applied for similar materials.
